Video Diary- Shoot Three (15/01/14)

Dear filming diary,

Today Emily and I met at my house around seven ish to complete our third shoot. I did Emily's hair and make-up in the kitchen whilst looking at my blog for the inspiration of hair and make-up. I also brought her the outfit I wanted her to wear and arranged  which slides from my storyboard I would be filming tonight.

I brought a yellow dress for Emily to wear, an outfit i created when sketching first ideas for my music video. I decided on a yellow dress due to the conventions of my music lyrics, when florence sings "tore my yellow dress." Not only did I want the video to match the song, but the Mise-en-scene within.

Once I had finished hair and make-up, I took the scenes from my story board and ventured to each location to begin filming. The first part of filming I shot was at the house, with the stairs and the glass door matching the lyrics of '0n this champagne drunken home'. This worked really well as the colours on the glass door were very bright and powerful, mixing with the colours of reds, yellows and a slight hint of gold, again matching with the lyrics. I also shot a few scenes at the piano, of emily playing and resting on the piano. I wanted the house to look abandoned as if it were a memory, rather than an actual exiting home, and so I added dead and dried leaves around the house, as well as darkly coloured and dried poperie on the piano and the keys. This created a really cool effect, as well as fitting with the conventions of my concept of music video idea.

We then went on to the corridor shot, where Emily is seen running down, but tripping and swaying as she goes. When shooting this I had a vision of seeing it in slow motion and so when editing this effect will be made.
In the corridor where you see Emily running, there is a balcony, and if you look over it you see the dinner table below. To shoot some possible digi-pak photos i arranged Emily to lie on the dinner table laying out her hair and placing some flowers and leaves into her hair. I then went over the balcony to take some images (like a birds eye view) of Emily. I also took possible digi-pak photos with Emily at the piano and Emily on the bed as seen at the right hand side of this text.

I felt that the shooting today was really useful and i really enjoyed it.
The possible digi-pak photos look really effective and cool, and the filming went really well to the pre planned thoughts in my head.

All together today was a hit.
