Richard Dyer (1983)

Richard Dyer (1983)

Richard Dyer came up with the theory of how media texts represent themselves to a society and an audience. He quoted "how we are seen determines how we are treated, how we treat others is based on how we see them. How we see them comes from representation". (Dyer 1983) From this quote you can tell exactly what his theory is about and how is relates to real ice situations. If you are seen wearing dirty clothes and greasy hair you are seen as a dirty person which from these impressions can be seen from stereotypes, again linking to Perkins theory.

This theory put to my music video, shows a very controversial issue. My music video will be seen as a dark video, not only from the narrative i have chosen but from the genre and the artist people will already recognise what the video will be like especially after hearing the song, so if they didn't see what they exact the media text would have no ideology.
